## Why partners integrate rather than build

Webcam eye tracking and machine learning are both hard to do well, and neither is enough on its own. A model is only as good as what it was trained on, and reading is a domain where being approximately right is worthless.

What sits behind Lexplore’s models is a dataset that begins in 1989, over a million labelled recordings, and validation against reading-aloud measures across grades one to eight. That is years of collection and validation before the first result you could act on. Integration is scoped with each partner.

## Nine validated language variants, ready to use

Validating and norming a language variant is the part that takes years, and it is the part your team does none of. Partners can build on existing language variants without developing their own assessment models.

## A request and response handshake

1. Your back end requests an assessment: language, level, credentials, redirect and webhook URLs.
2. Lexplore returns an assessment URL and ID.
3. Your front end launches it for the student.
4. The student reads for five minutes in a Lexplore-hosted flow.
5. Lexplore saves the recording and runs the analysis.
6. Results return by webhook: words correct per minute, score, percentile, passage ID.

**Lexplore owns** the assessment technology, its scientific validity and compliance. We operate and update the client and run the infrastructure.

**You own** the learning experience: how results are presented, what they trigger, and how they fit your product.

## Evidence behind the integration

Developed at Karolinska Institutet, validated in two large research studies, independently replicated, and covered in peer-reviewed reviews. The full evidence and reference list are available on request.

Assessment delivery, storage and analysis run on Lexplore infrastructure within the EU and EEA.
